Jim: I noticed the other day at the big box store that they had a lot of beautiful red and gold decorations and ornaments on sale for Chinese New Year.

Jenny: Vases of pretty blossoms represent rebirth and new growth and can be found in most Chinese households during the holidays. Chinese people believe that without flowers, there won't be any fruit, so it is very important to have flowers or floral decorations in your home.
Jenny：一瓶瓶漂亮的花是代表重生以及新生命，春節期間能夠在幾乎家家戶戶中看見。中國人覺得要是沒有花的話，就不會豐收，所以家裡有花或是有像花一般的裝飾品是很重要的。
Jim: I bought some pussy willows the other day to put in a nice vase that someone gave me. Jim：我前幾天買了些銀柳放在別人給我的漂亮花瓶裡。
Jenny: Then you are all set! People also put out tangerines and candy trays. Jenny：那你就都準備好啦！人們也會擺出橘子和糖果盤。

Jenny: Well, the tangerines are symbols of abundant happiness and each candy on the tray represents something different. Lotus seeds represent having many children, peanuts represent a long life and candied melons represent growth and good health. Jenny：這個嘛，橘子是大吉大利的象徵，而每種在盤子裡的糖果則代表不一樣的東西。蓮子表示多子多孫，花生表示長壽，冬瓜糖代表成長與健康。
